Cities are ten degrees celsius hotter than the surrounding countryside. Air conditioning use accounts for one fifth of globe's electricity usage. Heat stroke is becoming more and more of an issue in cities, especially whent, youno, temperatures reach above 25 degrees celsius. The amount of energy needed to cool buildings will triple by 20 50 - equivalent to current electricity demand in Germany combined.
