The government's been deeply involved in the chip industry from day one. It funded a lot of the R&D that made chips possible it was the first buyer of chips for missile programs and for the space race. Selling to consumer markets was always more important in terms of scaling because there's a lot more consumer demand than government demand. Tim Cook Apple CEO has a lot more influence over this and I can under supply chain than the US president because he buys a lot more expensive chips.
