The Importance of Reading the Confession of Faith Sideways

The confession of faith has 32 chapters, but they're not discrete chapters that can be taken by themselves. They actually very frequently pick up threads from what goes before or what comes after. The first six chapters in many ways anticipate what will come later on. And the latter chapters pick up on various doctrines that are before or previously stated. So you have to think in terms of what is coming after or what has already been said in order to understand almost all of the statements of the confession of faith.
