Roll Dahl's Memoirs
Dahl's wife suffered a series of strokes while pregnant with their fifth child. She was left partially paralyzed and struggling to speak. Her new language caught Dahl's attention and he began to play around with words too. This is most evident in The Big Friendly Giant, for which he created the language Gobblefunk. Another strong theme throughout Dahl's memoirs is an obsession with sweets. One would imagine that he drew on these memories when writing perhaps his most famous creation, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
