The Importance of Status
status buys you as an individual is that when people look up to you, they listen to you. Status can also be a source of injustice because it's determined by some of your broad groups who belong to your identity. Say gender or race or social class. And the thing there is society has broad-based cultural status beliefs. Beliefs about how in general people who belong to this group are more competent and more worthy than others.
