Montesquieu and the Enlightenment
I love Montesquieu and I have a portrait of him hanging in my office. The main issue is on Levy's reading of the Spirit of the Laws, which is the linchpin of his account. Uzbek is shown to not really be a philosopher, to have only a veneer of philosophy and not to be the real thing. So using him as an indictment of the enlightened philosoph seems to me like a little bit of a stretch.
