"I was facing a lot of sexual harassment, a lot of folks. The kind of rumors were floating in the way in which people were engaging with me," he says. "On top of some racist-based actions and, like, just some things that a lot of black folks face when they're significantly diminished or we're not mentored in the same ways" A policy had passed where they don't ask on tell was still in place, but it was under review.
