The Difference Between Personality and Psychopathology

The recent trend has really been in the direction of like personality and psychopathology are kind of the same stuff. You can use factor analytic models to show that the dimensions of one and the other are more or less the same but they share a common structure. The DSM-5 had this alternative model for personality disorders which was dimensional so it's this kind of weird juxtaposition of the old categories and the new dimensions within the same model. I don't think we're going to solve this problem at the level of psychological assessment of person characteristics in cross-sectional data.
