Sleep deprivation leads to increases in hunger, decreases in satiety and decreases in fulness. Sleep restriction has not only eased those effects after a particular meal but also shifted food preferences as well. And so we see this kind of interesting phenomenon like the whouls shift at night or during the day when people are more likely to get less sleep.
