The Devil and Jesus Identity and Call
In the story, jesus is tempted by the devil. But notice what he is tempted by. It's a temptation to hand over his identity and calling - not even to sin per se. Let me show you another story. Turn to john chapter one. He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, i am not the messiah. They asked him, wa then who are you? Are you elijah? He said, i amNot. Are you the prophet?
