The Red Army in Ukraine

Polish people were not rallying to the red army or to the communist revolution, but to the defence of their homeland. The poles thought and acted not in a social revolutionary way, but as nationalists. This meant that if the red army crossed this river they would be moving into territory that was well beyond their cultural limits. And in the red army, the poles saw enemies, not brothers and liberators.
