The Prophets of Medina and the Amma in Mecca
In 623 or 24, the amma in medina re oriented their prayers from jerusalem to mecca. At this point, it seems, mecca becomes the sort of new religious centre of islam, rather than jer Jerusalem. Mecca was not going to let this hejra go lightly. They saw medina and this new islamic society forming there under mohammed's leadership as a threat. There was a series wars a fought between mecca and medina, stretching from about 624 to 630.
