Is There Evidence for Cognitive Training Interventions?
I think that neuropsychology is evolving over time slowly, but we are embracing intervention more from what I see. Restorative training interventions tend to be specific and focused and really practicing the same thing over and over repeatedly. So it's not surprising that when you do that, just like learning a piano and practicing it, those networks that underpin that will strengthen. There's certainly evidence to support that. But with the more compensatory and holistic interventions, yes, there can be evidence for underlying neurological changes.
