The Story of Fred and Rose

In custody, Fred's behaviour was described as exemplary. He was transferred to another bail hostel with even more relaxed conditions. The younger West children began sneaking out of their foster homes and meeting Fred at Gloucester Park. They eventually coaxed them back to Cromwell Street. Rose visited him two or three times a week, sometimes with their older children, Mae or Stephen. During visits, Fred and Rose wandered the grounds and had sex in view of passers-by and their own children. Anna Marie sought police protection, but they couldn't understand why she thought it was necessary. To Anna Marie, it felt like everyone thought she was making a fuss over nothing.
