i think that this matters not just as a question of metaphysics but also in relation to how we live our lives and one way of putting that is how we trust life. If the future if divine life in part depends upon our response God puts something crucial of the divine life into our hands there's the very great risk that life starts to be seen as tragic for us things certainly go wrong suffering isn't always understood as being redemptive as being meaningful. Instead i think we need to know the classical understanding which that ultimately life is not a tragedy but that it is as dante would put it a comedy.
