Dr. Kim Budel is the 13th director of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a federal research facility. Her lab was the first to achieve scientific energy break even in a controlled experiment. Nuclear scientists call it the holy grail of clean energy they've been chasing for decades. Have used lasers to produce a nuclear fusion reaction that creates energy.

Reid and Aria sit down with Dr. Kim Budil, director of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, to talk about the future of fusion energy. Last December, Dr. Budil’s lab achieved fusion ignition. She explains what that historic breakthrough means, and what levers need to be pulled to go from that experiment to powering nations.
