How to Teach English in a Balanced Classroom
One of the key tenets of TEFL teaching is a focus on using English only in classrooms. The JET program actually does not require any Japanese knowledge. It's hard for me to imagine the struggles that they go through just in teaching and in daily life as well. I think you have a definite advantage because you know some Japanese even if it's like just very basic language You can at least figure out a way to communicate with your students not using their foreign language.
