The Battle for Hip Hop

Hip hop was a completely new cultural thing coming up in the streets. The studio establishment back then instill is to a certain degree of white male boys club. So there were a lot of people who just sort of saw a bunch of 18 year old kids coming in the door with dress like they'd never seen people dress before and having fun because they're 18year-old kids. And they got freaked, I think.
