The Importance of Carl Frisson in Neuroscience
Carl Frisson invented statistical parametric mapping, which is the main technique used in neuroscience. He developed a framework to work backwards from this data to basically the most probable set of hidden causal factors that generated your data. Active inference per se gets into the game when you take the same kind of framework and say, okay, what does it look like when the data that I'm trying to explain isn't neuroimaging data, but it's the actual sensory data that I am generating as an organism?
