Keeping the Newtora and the New Covenant
Pope benedict says that jesus is the newtora, which would mean he is the new law. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as i have kept my father's commandments and abide in his love. We need to be very conversant in his life and in his words, which is an implicit invitation to pray about his life. Pray about his words in ta spirit of faith that those actions, those words are aimed at us personally. It's communing with christ ideally but not absolutely necessary.
