#732 - Refuting Protestantism's "Clarity" Doctrine of Scripture
The Counsel of Trent
00:00
The Fallacy of Assuming What Scripture Tries to Prove
Trent: The Catholic Church does not teach that the Bible is so hopelessly obscure that Christians cannot intuit the meaning of individual passages or even groups of passages. Trent: In order to put together a coherent and systematic framework for understanding all of divine revelation, scripture can't be relied on by an individual person prayerfully humbly asking the Holy Spirit to guide him or her in understanding those kinds of questions. So you talk about philosophical problems, practical problems, biblical and patristic problems with the perspicuous scripture.
