Tolstoy is often criticized for being dogmatic and someone, but he doesn't pull his punches when it comes to the way people behave. One of his main psychological principles is nobody can take a step without it being in the service of what they believe. He shows us that none of us can really operate without beliefs that we need to question. It makes nihilism very difficult. Then, you know, then Tolstoy shows us that's what War and Peace is all about: family. And one of the great things about Anurandan is that we come to understand her decisions as well as she does.
