Is There a Clear Right Answer to Arms Control?

I don't think there's a clear right answer but certainly the sorts of trade-offs you mentioned sound reasonable. There are people at FHI who also affiliated with the Center for Effective Altruism and involved in building the EA community like Owen Cotton Barrett and Toby Ord. So there are people who straddle that boundary and you know look for opportunities to benefit both sides. And likewise even if you work directly on AI it's not totally clear that that's always the best thing you should do.
