Is It a Legacy of Dehumanization?

If we do not turn toward our collective painful story around race and poverty, it will continue to own us. And if you look at the way it's owning us, you will see that it's being leveraged in really painful ways. There's a school district in texas that is now saying, if we're going to teach the holler cost, we have to teach the opposite point of view. We no longer have a shared reality. That’s right. I know on a micro level from the research, that if you do not turn towards a painful story and own it, that story owns you.
