Historiansplaining: A historian tells you why everything you know is wrong

CHAPTER

The Green Night

The story of sir gawaine and the green knight, both in the original poem and in the movie, starts at camelot. Camelot appears as a tremendous, looming stone tower in the middle of a fairly dense, grubby, tight packed, wet, mediaeval town. The scenes of gawayne riding out of camelot when he sets out on his quest, show him crossing enormous fields of heather which, to my mind, bring to mind the phrase the blasted heath from macbeth.
