The Inflammatory Response and Ageing Prematurely in Mice
CRISPR technology has been used to replace a gene that causes inflammation with an anti-inflammatory component. If we can get rid of those materials and stop them from accumulating, even if it's at a pro-inflammatory level, then we won't get an inflammatory response in people with a strong genetic profile. The best way to deal with this is to find the best of both world solutions: To let people have the strong inflammatory response that they need in order to be protected while against infections,. but to fix the problem of maladaptive activation of the immune response.
