Burnt Offerings - I'm a Vegetarian, Right?

In the case of the burnt offering, everything is gone. And nothing is eaten by the priest nor the offer of the offering. That's one of the distinctions we'll have to draw out later with the peace offerings. So what's happening is the worshiper is identifying with the animal. They're putting it on the altar. They're burning it. The smoke is going up. It's like the sacrifice is being transferred in the smoke from earth to heaven.
