Is It Easier to Work With Strings in Haskell?

In closure, the types are much looser. And in haskall, it's much harder to work with raw jason within haskall because you have all these cases werwell, what if you think it's a string, but it's really a number? It just makes it just more convenient. But this is one of the things that closure has made easier than haskell. Some people took that to mean that i don't understand how types work, or how total functions work,. How it can't make sense to allow map over every type, which it appears that closure does.
