The Problem of Multiple Pastense Forms

Multiple forms of the verb existed side by side for a while. And those multiple forms came about due to confusion over what proper form was. The verb sneak is an interesting case because it has sort of gone back and forth over the centuries. In some cases, like dive, both past tense forms survived. But again, we tend to find that one form is more common in certain regions.
