The Basic Building Block of Patriarchy

It's really in this era that we see the solidification of our modern iteration of the nuclear family right where you have the heterosexual couple. Women and children stay at home and are completely dependent on the wage of the husband for having their needs met. Children are also at the lower end of the hierarchy below their father and even below their mother so they're the lowest rung of the hierarchy within the household.
