The History of Whiskey
A lot of alcohol was calorie. Something that provided calories as well, especially in early America. And so whiskey was this kind of fascinating story of American independence. Being able to move from rum to whiskey meant a kind of independence and that it really created a shift in the kind of theAmerican leaders who were in the cities initially looked down on frontiersmen. But then they came to stand in as this kind of emblem of American ruggedness and the frontier - which was sometimes disingenuous.
