Tolkien envisioned this as a pre history of the actual world that's pretty cool yeah. I think maybe they all kind of got distracted with other stuff in some ways right like George Lucas right now. And then Bormann is like I'm going to do ZardarYeah he's Bormann's like God Zardar's George Lucas around this time is doing the prequels right so he's got like he's off to the races on his own thing. The craft trick here is not not being explicit about the rules I think it is evoking a sense of deep history and loreSo that you trust that even when there are contradictions there are reasons for those contradictions.
