The device Michelle heard that day is sometimes called a sound cannon. Lynn Pescow-Yang, a tech journalist who reports on L-Radz, says it's not what you think. An L-Rad blasts a sound in just one direction, like a beam from a super powerful flashlight. A regular loudspeaker scatters sounds in many directions,. But an L- Rad blasts them in only one direction.
