The Encyclopaedia
An encyclopaedia cannot be ordered up. It is a labor that must be doggedly pursued, rather than launched energetically. Its many volumes have some incredible illustrations and plates in it. So it's interesting to look at as well as to read. And i think its a true intellectual centrepiece of a lot of effort,. not only in the enlightenment, but in the post renaissance world.
