The Life and Times of William Tacunza Sherman

William Tacunza Sherman was born William Kump. He served in the Mexican-American War and later became a U.S. Army quartermaster. In 1861, he predicted that it would take 200,000 men to defend Kentucky from Confederates. His prediction got him branded as crazy and reassigned to St. Louis by Henry Old Brain's Hallock. The two men bonded over these struggles and went on to become close friends.
