What Happens if You Don't Exercise the Option?
There are a lot of writers out there who film studios want to make sure they secure all of the rights to all of their books. So that means that every year and a half or so, 20 books cycle through this option cycle. And usually what happens is they don't exercise it. They don't do the contract. But oftentimes, they just, they want to hang on to the rights.
