Introduction

C r codes were invented by massahiro hara of the denso wave subsidiary of japan's denso automotive parts company in 19 94. The original application of the cr code was to identify parts in auto manufacturing at high speed. A two d bar code can hold more information and deliver it quicker than scanning that one d bar code, one little bar at a time. Most c r codes, though, that you see in every day life are around versions two through five - they usually hold between 20 to a hundred characters.
