The Sermon on the Plain, the Sermon of Mercy
In Matthew's Gospel, we had the Sermon on the Mount. This is in Luke's Gospel, what's called the Sermons on the Plain. It's kind of an abbreviated form of what Jesus must have preached multiple times. There's something about this and also about the teaching of love for enemies. And God, we know how often we've made ourselves your enemy. We see you commanding us to love our enemies.
