Most beds for royal families did not get used. monarchs in the 16th, 17th, 18th centuries had dozens of beds and never slept in most of them. There is a modern royal bed habit - it's considered rude to go to bed before the queen does. They all built an entire wing at Kettelstern Hall which no monarch ever visited.
