Trump did not adhere to the playbook that the religious right had long demanded of presidential candidates. He was unafraid to say things that many of them thought, but they thought that even Republican politicians were insufficiently harsh in combating. They would say, sometimes God chooses an unlikely leader to lead a country at a critical juncture in its history. And God chose Donald Trump. For that I'm deeply grateful. We are a nation under God. And I believe God intended for us to be free.
