Tens of billions of dollars have b invested in the tutoring industry. Three publicly traded companies, education companies, that operate in china trade on the new york stock exchange. They used a structure known as a variable interest entity. This structure allowed chinese companies to raise foreign capital, but to do it in a way to skirt the rules. There's been big tech companies that have backed these on line tutoring companies through their venture capital arms.
