N-Sars: A Social Movement in Nigeria
N-SARS kicked off in 2020, as a protest movement against the special unit of the police. It was known as the Special Antirubbery Squad. They spread across the country starting from Lagos and then becoming biggest in Lagos. And they seem to also draw on a kind of wider register of grievances that are felt most keenly by young people who have often been target of SARS initiatives.
