The Chief Bosom's Mate on the Formosa Strait
Formosa Strait bottleneck was rightly plugged at the Northern end and a single submarine served as quirk. The Japanese did run a lot of their shipping through the Formosa Strait because they thought it had a better survival rate to get to Japan. But it was also a very dangerous environment because it was within sight of shore. There were still operational air fields and Formosa that we'd go out and hunt for submarines.
