The idea here is that if you had the morphological characteristics in your calves where you were better able to sustain that position without providing a lot of tension and stretch, it wouldn't be as much of a stimulus. When the muscle itself is really, really stretched, it compresses that microvascular more so you get more of a hypoxic environment, less metabolic stress. These are all this theoretical potential explanations. We don't know yet, but they're really important to explore because we need to know whether this is worth trying and trained individuals who really do care about making their calves grow.
