In John 858, Jesus says before Abraham was, I am. This is one of the most powerful indications of Jesus claiming to be God here. In Exodus chapter three, when Moses is being told by God to go to the Israelites and tell them that they're going to be set free, he says, well, if they ask me, you know, what's your name? What am I supposed to say? And so that comes to be taken as the name base, the basis for the name of God. I am.
