The Onondaga Nation - The New York State Museum
The board of regents tried to sue to get them back, but the cases were always dismissed. The widow of mayor of albany bequeathed them to the new york state museum in 19 27. So this seems like a tremendous betrayal, right? That they are supposed to be the wampum keepers on behalf of the onondaga nation and when it comes to these most crucially important ceremonial belts, they are now claiming them for themselves.
