Charity Adams: A Woman's Story
Charity Adams was in the first class of women officers. First women's office was in Fort Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up at a time when strict racial segregation was enforced under what were called the Jim Crow laws. The state had been part of the Confederacy, defending slavery in the American Civil War.
