Is There a Need for Long Termism?
There's a division in the effect of altruist community on what causes to fund. Some people think global poverty, health and development are best cause areas. Others say long termism - trying to influence course of very far future is better. But John Bostram argues that considerations of cluelessness favour long termism rather than undermining it. He says we might choose more fully if we care about all the effects of our actions until the end of time but we're clueless about most of those effects.
