The Corroboration Rule and the Not Proven Jury
The scottish government is holding a public consultation on potential reforms of the criminal justice system. The two key things that they are looking at there are the not proven verdict and corroboration rule. There's no doubt in our minds that sex offenders in scotland get off free. They are not prosecuted. And we also know, again, coming back to the statistics, that someone who perpetrates one sexual offence will more than likely go one to perpetuate others.
