Is There a Conflict Between Intellectual Property Rights and Access to Medicines?
The biopharm industry is on corse to produce 12 billion vaccines globally this year. The problem becomes distribution of these vaccines intoa accumunities across the world. Many have used this situation to launch a broad frontal assault intellectual property rights in the liest sciences industry. What's more important: access to current medicines at a low price, or future medicines for our kids? And i think there's a way to square that circle if we focus on enabling a robust business eco system including the ability to make money on successful drugs.
